After the death of Hector the Greeks were feasting. They knew that victory is already guaranteed.
“After ten long and tiresome years our victory has finally come. Tomorrow we shall commence our final attack on the walls of Troy! Tomorrow we shall sack the palace of Priam! Tomorrow we will rejoice for tomorrow is our last day on this wretched land. Tomorrow we shall go back to our homes with Trojan slaves and we will finally see our wives bringing them the riches that we have gotten from the city of Troy!” Agamemnon said with certainty that he will be victorious in the war.
The crowd shouted cheering their king. The whole of the Greek camp was merrily feasting except for one person, Achilles.
He was watching how the body of his friend Patroclos is burning. He felt very sorry for his friend and he still thinks that he is the reason behind Patroclos death. While in the midst of his mourning a robed man came to him, it was king Priam. Priam asked for his son’s corpse and Achilles gave it to him peacefully. Achilles thought Hector deserves to be buried properly.
The body of Hector was set in Priam’s car but when he was about to leave he grabbed a sword and attacked Achilles.
Achilles quickly dodged and got hold of a spear. After jumping a few spaces backward he threw his spear and it hit Priam.
“Curse you son of Peleus! How dare you kill my beloved son Hector! You shall be punished by Hades after your death!” Priam said with his dying breath.
Because of this Achilles grew sadder. He mourned more for the death of his friend. How he wished that he has joined the war more sooner so that his friend Patroclos will not die.
